What is ‘’Mediterranean’’ interior design style?

Mediterranean style refers to the following 3 regions: South of Greece, Italy, & Spain. Each region has its own unique & distinct design style: ‘’Greek’’ for South of Greece, ‘’Tuscan’’ for Italy & ‘’Spanish Hacienda’’ for Spain. There is also ”Minimalism rethought” which is ‘’Greek’’ with a modern twist.

Greek Style:

This style traditionally features white stucco walls with accents of turquoise & cobalt blue. Built in seatings, shelving units and even beds is a common thing to see as well. The corners of the walls are

usually round. The first 2 rows are images of Green style.

Mediterranean rethought:

This is a somewhat new edition to the design world where the greeks style is given a modern/contemporary look with the ‘’Wabi Sabi” Philosophy of simplicity & imperfection. You don’t see turquoise & cobalt blue here but rather lots of beige, white, brown and terracottas. Rows 8-7 are images of Mediterranean Rethought style.

Tuscan:

This style features textured walls in shades of cream, pale yellow or even darker earthy tones like burnt orange. Cast iron and dark wood are used for furniture and dark hardwood floors, Terra-cotta tile or stones for the floors. It is in general dark and very traditional looking. Rows 8-13 are images of Tuscan style.

Spanish Hacienda:

This style features white stucco walls, red clay roof tiles, doors and exposed ceiling beams made of rustic wood, small windows & archways.

Interior courtyards and rooms that open up to outdoor living spaces with water fountains are always present. There is a lot of Moorish influence here with the colored ceramic tiles & metal lanterns. Rows 14-17 are images of Spanish Hacienda style.

Hopefully by the end of this post you will be able to see the difference between all 4 design styles that comes under the Mediterranean Design Style to better pinpoint which one do you like more.

” What interior design style am I”?

Why I created ”The Ultimate Design Guide’’:

I noticed when you search for a certain design style on google or Pinterest; a lot of the images are not related which resulted in confusion for my clients. I therefore created this guide to serve as a guidance.
